SYSTEM & METHOD FOR
PROVIDING
CLIENTS WITH PATENT TRANSLATIONS EXECUTED TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS
Background
The present brochure
relates to the field of translations, particularly to a system and method for the
accelerated execution and more effective and precise preparation of translations,
especially those that pertain to patents, patent correspondence, reference documents cited
by the examiner, applications for foreign filing, and other patent-related literature.
Description of Prior
Art
It has been known in
the art to resort to translations carried out by non-professionals, free-lancers, or
translation mills. None of the above, however, were designed for the exclusive purpose of
providing translations executed to the highest standards specifically for patent and
patent-related documents, the aforementioned translations being prepared by a staff of
professional technical translators who are themselves patent agents or patent searchers.
It is apparent that patent specialists in all professions would greatly
benefit from an advanced, efficient, quick, cost-effective, and super-professional patent
translation service enabling them to do a better job with their clients. After many years
of study, research, and development carried out in many countries, the applicant, assisted
by his dedicated colleagues, was able to formulate the present system and method in 1981,
in his patent translation brochure No. 00001.

Detailed Description of
the Patent Translation
& Consulting Company, Inc.
System and Method of Preparing
Patent Translations
The system and method invented by
the author will now be described further in greater detail with reference to the attached
drawing.
As shown in the accompanying drawing, the Patent Translation & Consulting
Company, Inc. [located at 1185 Chess Drive, Suite 202, in Foster City, California, 94404
USA] comprises an agency 10 furnished with state-of-the-art word- and data-processing
equipment 12 [capable of generating translations 13 in a variety of languages, typefaces,
and styles] and a multi-lingual staff of dedicated and overeducated professionals. A
translator 14, who is either a patent agent or a professional patent searcher, sits in
front of a computer 16 located in close proximity to a library 18 of highly-specialized
technical and patent dictionaries and other reference materials 20. Library 18 comprises
several hundred rare and precious tomes diligently collected from countries around the
world, being of American, British, and foreign origin. A facsimile machine 22 stands ready
on a 24-hour basis to facilitate communications between translator 14 and client 24. A
number (650) 349-4124 activates facsimile machine 22, translator 14 swiftly commencing
operation after receiving communication therefrom.
Operation of the System
The translation and consultation
system and method of the Patent Translation & Consulting Company, Inc. generally
operates as follows.
When agency 10 receives a request for a translation to be prepared on a
non-rush basis, the material supplied is evaluated with reference to its volume, subject
matter, and complexity. It is then assigned to translator 14 with expertise in the field
of specialization of material supplied. If necessary, a rough estimate of the expected
cost is communicated to client 24. Translator then renders his service and it is processed
by the appropriate technology available, being thereafter checked for errors and
imperfections before transmission to client 24 in a clean, neat, and complete form
suitable for immediate professional application.
