AUD PictureAdvanced Urological Developments (AUD) designs and develops technologically and clinically advanced cost effective systems for the treatment of URETHRAL SYNDROME (clinically manifested by frequency, nocturia, urgency, urge incontinence), STRESS URINARY INCONTINENCE (involuntary loss of urine during stressful physical activities) and FECAL INCONTINENCE (inability to control the anal passage of feces or gas).

AUD was a recipient of a grant awarded under the SBIR Program of the National Institute of Health for research in the field of endourethral vibratory treatment. At the present time, AUD is also a holder of 12 VALID US PATENTS INCLUDING 7 IN THE FIELD OF ENDOURETHRAL VIBRATORY STIMULATION. Some of the instruments designed by AUD are already on the world-wide market.

THE PATENTS OWNED BY AUD RELATE TO THE FOLLOWING FIELDS

medbul2.gif (2896 bytes) 1. Vibratory Urethral Probes (urological bougies)
These instruments treat different types of voiding dysfunctions such as frequency, nocturia, urgency syndrome; urge incontinence, and stress urinary incontinence. The endourethral vibratory (massage) type of treatment was successfully TESTED BY LEADING AMERICAN UROLOGISTS in 90 patients with different types of voiding dysfunctions. It has been shown that the endourethral vibratory procedure is a safe, simple, painless, relatively low-cost procedure. The procedure can be performed by a nurse on an outpatient basis, which evidences no side effect. The company is planning to conduct a study for testing the vibratory methods of treatment on MALE PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC NON-BACTERIAL PROSTATITIS and in patients suffering from FECAL INCONTINENCE.  The market in this field is enormous.

AT THE PRESENT TIME OUR COMPANY IS LOOKING FOR A CORPORATE PARTNER FOR INTRODUCING THE VIBRATORY PROBES INTO CLINICAL PRACTICE!

medbul2.gif (2896 bytes) 2. Method for Improving Observation Conditions in the Urethra and a Cystoscope for Carrying out the Method.
The new instrument is a cystoscope provided with a balloon that can be screwed onto a threaded portion on the distal end of the cystoscope sheath.  The same instrument can be used for laparoscopic procedures.
medbul2.gif (2896 bytes) 3. Urethral Plug with Means for Protection Against Infection
This is a special guide sleeve which prevents physical contact of the front end of any catheter with the infected part of the urethra during insertion of the catheter.
medbul2.gif (2896 bytes) 4. Combined Mechanical Dilator-Urethrotome
This is a new type of a urethral dilator with a cutting knife.  This instrument may find wide application in female urology.
medbul2.gif (2896 bytes) 5. Vibratory Stone-Extraction Basket
The device is based on the concept that low frequency vibration inhibits ureter spasticity during stone extraction.
